Shelf Bracket Fitting Instructions
What you will need:
- Shelf brackets
- Wall plugs & screws (these come supplied with our full range of cast iron shelf brackets)
- Spirit level
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Drill
- 7mm masonry bit
- Hammer
- Screwdriver
- Protective eyewear
Fitting Instructions
- When you receive your shelf brackets the box will contain the brackets and the fixings that you’ll need to attach your shelf bracket to a solid wall (You may wish to clean the brackets with some WD40 to get rid of some of the residue from the bending).
- After you have decided on the location check the construction of the wall. Obviously shelves will be more secure when fitted to a solid brick wall. If you wish to install them on a stud partition wall, then either fit directly into the studs, or obtain some plasterboard wall plugs.
- Determine where you would like your shelf to be fitted, it may be worth offering the shelf up to the wall to see if you like the position before you drill any holes into the walls, once you have decided where you would like your shelf to be take your spirit level and mark a level line with a pencil, where you would like the bottom of your shelf to be.
- You can take your shelf brackets and line up to the top with your line in position, and mark the fixings holes onto the wall with a pencil.
- Now, with your drill, take it up to your markings with the 6mm masonry bit attached, the hole should be slightly deeper than the length of the supplied wall plugs, this can then be repeated for both brackets and all markings.
- Once the holes have been created, the wall plugs can then be inserted into the holes. Using a hammer, lightly tap the wall plugs so that they are flush with the wall. You can now take your bracket and the supplied screws, along with your screwdriver and attach your bracket to the wall.
- Once both brackets are secured onto the wall, you can take your shelf and place it onto your brackets and line it up so that it sits centrally with regards to the brackets. You can then screw the shelves to the brackets with the small screws provided.
